Visual Arts — July 20 – Brainerd Dispatch

Ripple River Gallery

Mary Anne O’Malley finds inspiration in her observations of the natural world. With watercolor and graphite, she offers an up-close artistic interpretation of plants and animals. Her work will be on view at the Ripple River Gallery in Aitkin until August 14.

Her skills in topographic and landscape fabrication have led her to work for museums and visitor centers, including the Lewis and Clark Museum in Montana; Witchita Mountain Visitor Center in Oklahoma; Big Bend National Park in Texas; and the Monterey Bay Visitor Center in California.

The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, call 218-678-2575, email [email protected] or visit

A new exhibit of artwork by Nichole Delafield is on view at the Brainerd Public Library through September. The exhibit includes 14 pieces of watercolor prints and one mixed-media acrylic artwork.

Her work includes fine art with pastels, watercolors and acrylics. She also enjoys sharing her love of art and design through her hand-painted silks. Design work for women includes clothing and accessories featuring these distinctive pieces.

Writing is another form of expression for Delafield. “Gull Lake Memories: A Kayaking Adventure” is a travel journal and memoir sharing stories and paintings of the historic Brainerd Lakes region.
