Mary Anne O’Malley finds inspiration in her observations of the natural world. With watercolor and graphite, she offers an up-close artistic interpretation of plants and animals. Her work will be on view at the Ripple River Gallery in Aitkin until August 14.

Her skills in topographic and landscape fabrication have led her to work for museums and visitor centers, including the Lewis and Clark Museum in Montana; Witchita Mountain Visitor Center in Oklahoma; Big Bend National Park in Texas; and the Monterey Bay Visitor Center in California.

A new exhibit of artwork by Nichole Delafield is on view at the Brainerd Public Library through September. The exhibit includes 14 pieces of watercolor prints and one mixed-media acrylic artwork.

Her work includes fine art with pastels, watercolors and acrylics. She also enjoys sharing her love of art and design through her hand-painted silks. Design work for women includes clothing and accessories featuring these distinctive pieces.

Writing is another form of expression for Delafield. “Gull Lake Memories: A Kayaking Adventure” is a travel journal and memoir sharing stories and paintings of the historic Brainerd Lakes region.

The Cross Arts Alliance

The Crossing Arts presents the exhibition “A Collection of Souls from Around the World, Photography by Claudia Allene” at its gallery in downtown Brainerd.

The exhibition presents the photographs of Claudia Allene. Starting in 2013, Allene embarked on a three-year solo journey around the world, as she visited 41 countries, including Peru, China, Mongolia, India and more.

An artists’ reception will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 22. Wine and light bites will be served. The public is invited to attend. This exhibition is sponsored by Gather On 3 Event Center.

Allene’s project is made possible by a grant from the Five Wings Arts Council, with funds from the McKnight Foundation.

This exhibit is funded, in part, by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Five Wings Arts Council and the Minnesota State Arts Board, through a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

“Nature Perspectives: The Landscape Photography of Donald Phillips” will be on display at the Jessie F. Hallett Memorial Library in Crosby until August 31.

The exhibit highlights 20 black and white photographs of Phillips, a former resident of Emily, the Little Pine Route Farm, the St. Croix Scenic Waterway, and Fort Snelling’s Pike Island.

Library hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Good People: A Photographic Exploration of Morrison County by Anthony Marchetti will be on display at the Charles A. Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum in Little Falls until December 31.
