Visual Arts Center of New Jersey Hires Jillian Decker as New Director of Development and Communications

(SUMMIT, NJ) – The New Visual Arts Center Jersey (VACNJ) recently announced the hiring of Jillian Decker as their new director of development and communications. Decker comes to VACNJ after more than three years in New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation (NJVVMF), most recently as the director of development and external affairs.

After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Architecture from Penn State University and a Master of Arts in Arts Ohio State University Education and Administration, Decker started his career at the Aiken Center for the Arts, in Aiken, in the south Caroline. Subsequently, she worked as a grant writer at the Artists Guild of Columbia County, Georgia; as vice president and director of development at Columbia County Arts, Inc .; and as a development specialist at The Contemporary Delaware.

Among his accomplishments during his tenure at NJVVMF, which began in 2018, Decker redesigned the membership program and launched the Remembrance Program fundraising campaign, which led to the third source of private income for the foundation. Decker oversaw all marketing and digital experiences and developed the NJVVMF’s monthly VetChat web series. She was also rewarded by the Certified Fund Raising of executive status (CFRE) by CFRE International in September 2020.

“Jillian is an incredibly talented person and motivated person and I am delighted to have him on our team, ”said Melanie Cohn, General Manager of Visual New Jersey Center for the Arts. “His vast experience in development, combined with his knowledge and passion for the arts will be invaluable as we grow and strengthen the Art Centre’s programs serving children and adults through New Jersey.”

For over 85 years, the New Jersey Visual Arts Center, located at 68 Elm Street in Summit, has been exclusively dedicated to viewing, creating and learning contemporary art. Recognized as a leading non-profit arts organization, the renown of the Art Center Studio School, acclaimed exhibitions and educational outreach initiatives serve thousands of youth, families, seniors, and people with special needs every year.

The opening hours of the gallery are Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please call 908.273.9121 to confirm vacation hours.
