The New Jersey Visual Arts Center, based at the summit, has appointed Jillian Decker as director of development and communications.

Decker comes to VACNJ from the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation, where she most recently served as director of development and external affairs.

After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Art and Architectural History from Penn State University and a Master of Arts in Arts Education and Administration from Ohio State University, Decker began his career at the Aiken Center for the Arts, in Aiken, South Carolina.

Subsequently, she worked as a grant writer at the Guild of Artists of Columbia County, Georgia; as vice president and director of development at Columbia County Arts Inc.; and as a development scholar at the Delaware Contemporary.

“Jillian is an incredibly talented and driven individual and I’m thrilled to have her on our team,” said Melanie Cohn, executive director of the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey. “His extensive development experience, combined with his knowledge and passion for the arts, will be invaluable as we grow and strengthen the Art Center’s programs for children and adults in New Jersey.”

For more than 85 years, the nonprofit Visual Arts Center of New Jersey has been “dedicated to viewing, creating, and learning about contemporary art.” Each year, the Art Center’s Studio School, exhibits, and educational outreach initiatives serve thousands of youth, families, seniors, and people with special needs.
