The EU / CoE Action on Freedom of Expression and Media Freedom in Kosovo (JUFREX2) organized a two-day training course for the staff of the Independent Media Commission of the Monitoring and Analysis Services and legal from December 9 to 10, 2021.
The training aimed to equip the employees of the Independent Media Commission, in particular the staff of the monitoring and analysis and legal services, with additional knowledge and information on national legal standards in the field of media surveillance. elections and the tools to carry out their tasks and responsibilities. In addition, cases of breaking electoral silence and ways to identify such cases as well as other political, legal and regulatory aspects of electoral silence were discussed in depth.
The second day of the training focused on issues related to disinformation / disinformation during the election period, information disorder in the digital environment and its implications for political / election campaigns. Experts elaborated on the impact of social media and the internet on electoral processes and monitoring challenges.
This action is part of the “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey II”, a co-operation initiative co-financed by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe, which aims to help beneficiaries in the Western Balkans region and Turkey to comply with Council of Europe standards and the European Union acquis in the framework of the enlargement process, where appropriate.
