Film and Visual Media Nominees Ready for Hollywood Music in Media Awards

The Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA) unveiled the nominees in the film and all music for visual media categories. Films nominated in the sheet music, song, screen performance and other genre music categories include: Don’t look up, Cyrano, King Richard, Dune, No Time to Die, The Power of the Dog, CODA, Respect, Parallel Mothers and go! Go on. Composers with multiple nominations include Hans Zimmer, Nicholas Britell, Amie Doherty, Bryce Dessner, and Aaron Dessner. Nominated songwriters include song icons Carole King, Van Morrison, Brian Wilson, Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Eddy Vedder and Jay-Z. The prizes will be handed out on Wednesday, November 17 at 5:30 p.m. (PST). The HMMAs honor composers, songwriters and music supervisors for their work in music for film, television, and video games.

HMMA nominations have historically been representative of the nominees and winners of the Golden Globes, Oscars, Grammys and Emmys that occur months later. The Hollywood Music in Media Awards will feature musical performances, celebrity presenters, tributes to music industry icons, awards for songwriters, songwriters and artists and the new category, Outstanding On-Screen Performance in a movie. The new category rewards an exceptional song (original or pre-existing performance). This award will be presented to the on-screen artist.

Past Oscar-winning HMMA laureates include Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Jon Batiste for Soul, Hildur Guðnadóttir for Joker, Ludwig Goransson for Black Panther, Alexandre Desplat for Water shape, songs by Judas and the Black Messiah, La La Land, A Star Is Born and more. HMMA voters consist of selected journalists, Oscar, Grammy, Golden Globe and Emmy voters.
